Polka Dots: From Subtle to Statement

Welcome back to our Weekly Trend Report! We’re officially in September, whether you’re heading back to uni, college, or just getting back into work mode (physically and mentally) after a summer break. This week, we’re spotlighting a bit of a Marmite trend… polka dots.

Why Marmite? Because there are definitely levels to this print, and we’re here to break them down. First up, small and subtle. You’ll find a few examples on our Pinterest board (go follow us if you haven’t already!) where tiny dots add texture and interest rather than making a big statement. This works especially well on mesh dresses.

Next, we have the big and bold polka dots. These bring serious glamour, whether it’s through statement tops, puffy dresses, or even bold accessories. We spotted some fabulous styling with polka-dot tights and oversized fuzzy coats. If you can nail a pattern clash, amazing, if not, these are a great alternative.

Colour-wise, most of the polka-dot looks we found stayed in the monochrome lane, with the occasional pastel pink or blue. We’ll be keeping an eye out this season for more colourful takes on this classic print.
